As I lay being the insomniac last night....I first watched the The Nativity from the early 60's.....then it ended......went to the Bathroom....and came back in.....and then got hooked  on a silent movie on the resurrection of Christ...

I really think this movie was made in the 20's.......It was pretty cool....But I fell asleep after Judas gave Jesus the kiss of death.....

I really need to find that again......and watch it without being tired.....and having to get up early in the morning.

Human Target. Watched the first 2 shows and now hooked. Closest thing to James Bond on tv.

Too bad it... not... the Human Target. They've completely botched the premise of the original series and made it a Bourne/Bond knock-off.

It won't last long anyway if it's a good show.   Good shows just fade away.    Elen's show will be on forever.     We all need to start writing in to the Price Is Wrong and ask for Drew to go away.    He will never be another Bob Barker.     Glenn Curry was the proper choice for that show and CBS wouldn't have it.      Grin

"Bullitt," which I bought for the included doc on movie editing (highly recommended, btw) and then stayed for the feature.

Never saw it, and figured the main reason was the car chase. I'm surprised at how good the whole thing is.

"Secret Honor," the one man show about President Nixon translated to film. The 'conspiracy' is silly, but the raving portrayal of Nixon is weirdly compelling.

Some of the new horror movies just are not good.     I don't know if anyone here likes the Saw series, I just don't get into them.     Some of the first Nightmare on Elm Street films, they are classic horror.      I don't  like the new ones that use the shake in the camera bull, and the flash stop crap.     I could film some movies really using a handheld camera that should be much more interesting.      Just filming a chop up double murder of woman doesn't make it a classic.     They new film makers forget to add a plot or a story line.      I saw one last week on SYFY.      These people went for the night into a haunted house to do a reality show.    It wasn't bad.     It just was so easy to tell where it was going.     It was simple.   Everyone gets killed by the house, one by one.    Some one gets a evil demon in their head and ends out  living there for ever, feeding the house new people.      Boring.

T.A.M.I. Show: Rock 'n Roll's First Concert Film on PBS. The first concert of the rock 'n' roll era includes clips of James Brown, Chuck Berry, the Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Ronettes, Rolling Stones, Bo Diddley, Ike & Tina Turner, Beach Boys, Gerry & The Pacemakers and the Supremes. Great stuff.

I have the edited cassette that came out earlier but this restores the original concert in it's entirety.

T.A.M.I., yes!

Bought used dvds today - Julie & Julia on my wife's recommendation, and she's right - it's wonderful.

Also, Space Cowboys and Grand Torino, because I'll watch any movie Clint Eastwood directs or has a role in.

Little to quick to end the stand off between the two main actors....  yes the bad guy will be back.... but kind of a weird way to end the first show.    It was kind of like what would happen if Jack caught the bad guys in the first show of 24.    Still you are correct.... should be a good series.

It was kind of like what would happen if Jack caught the bad guys in the first show of 24.

If Jack caught the bad guys in the first show, we would discover (pick one):

- they were really the good guys under deep cover

- the real bad guy is a succession of old white guys who own big factories on the outskirts of Washington DC with massive black helicopter security that no one seems to notice

- they are embittered CTU agents who want to do the right thing but, dammit, the government has betrayed them

- the mastermind is the chief assistant to the President, who always has to step out of the room and take a call on his/her cell just as the crisis hits its peak

In my house, '24' was mandatory viewing for the last six years. Not this year - I watched the first four episodes, liked three of them, but can't bring myself to invest the effort again.

Breaking Bad on AMC.

Now in its third season, its the story of a chemistry teacher that turns to manufacturing meth after getting cancer and wondering how he would be able to provide for his family if he doesnt go into remission.

Brian Cranston who played the father in Malcolm in the Middle is amazing in the role of Walter White, the teacher.

Tonight at 9PM, I'm going to check out the premiere of HBO's original film, "You Don't Know Jack". According to the Boston Herald, Al Pacino delivers an Emmy-worthy performance as Jack Kevorkian, proponent for the right to free will. That, and Barry Levinson being the director of an all-star cast (e.g. John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, etc.) should make for a good movie.

Just watched last week's episode of South Park. It was the second part of their 200th episode and they decided to satririze the controversy of depicting Muhammad, the prophet of Islam.

Well, the first part of the episode was aired in its entirety, but, then Comedy Central chickened out and caved to the "predictions" of a small, radical Islamic group. In the second part, they left the jokes about Christ watching internet porn and Buddha using cocaine, but bleeped every mention of Muhammad and the entire speech at the end.

Not only does such a cowardly decision empower the radical element of Islam who are successfully intimidating people and stifling free speech, I think it's a slap in the face to the creators of South Park, who have been their cash cow for years.

The statement by the creators of South Park can be found here.

s.

Really? I watched Bullitt this afternoon... the first hour or so was good, then the car chase... but the last hour hour or better tended to drift. The Jackie Bissett scenes were cringeworthy and overly preachy. It had the police/political drama intrigue of Dirty Harry mixed with personal scenes that were as hip and 'relevant' as Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

If the whole last hour was the car chase, I would've been more satisfied. Luckily, I got the movie on a 'double feature' DVD that also contained the more interesting Papillon.

Well, BTVOTD is a great movie, the Citizen Kane of sleaze, IMHO.

That aside, you're right - I think I was overly impressed when I saw it. OTOH, Jacqueline Bissett can preach at me any time she wishes.
