I don't think they will.    I went to a late in the year movie last year.    The problems are just to many to list.   The biggest is the temp.    We had to run the van several times.    Then it rained.     It just isn't as much fun late in the fall.      Can't walk around in shorts and injoy the summer bugs.    What we need is one of those dvd projectors and a warehouse to show the movies in.    Open up our own show.    I wonder what night this weekend the last show runs at the mall?    I might just go to say I went.    Anyone know?

The xxxxxxxxx xxxxx xxxxx is reporting that the Regal Cinemas Salmon Run Mall 8 in Watertown, New York will close July 30, 2010 in order to be razed as part of the theater's expansion project. The new theater is expected to open in Spring 2011:

Well then.     We are screwed starting today.    To be truthful with you.... I may not go back to the place anymore.    They vauled me as a customer.... NOT.    Let everyone from Drum go when they reopen.    I don't say it's a bad deal to base your service all toward the post.... But in the long run will that pan our for them?    Another big build up in some other part of the country takes all your customers away.    They may not in the future need the post so much.     Then they will have to look to some of the none Army to fill the seats.     O-well they did what they did.    Big company that has no idea what this area is all about.    Thank's Regal.

I didn't read the article about the expansion so maybe I missed something, but why do you believe they are basing their service towards the post and valuing locals less than military?  I believe that teens and young adults comprise a large portion of moviegoers and most of them (local AND military) aren't nostalgic about the olden days. Actually, I'm not sure that all "old-timers" are adverse to a more modern movie-viewing venue, either.

During my last trip to Mexico City I went to a movie theater similar to the one described here.  It was amazing.  To begin, we bought our tickets and selected our seats online, so it was hassle-free to walk into the movie.  The reclining seats were super-comfortable.   The quality of the picture and sound were the best I've ever experienced in a movie theater!

I don't believe I'm worthy of such opulent treatment.  I'll wait for it to come out on Beta and watch it on my 20" Zenith.
I'll try not to enjoy it too much.

They are building a movie experience not many people have to have.     Only the people who came from out of the area cry for the place.... O yes they are looking to the post.... Which is just fine with me.

like ive said one good thing that could become of this is that another company could bump out that church group at the cinema at stateway plaza and reopen it as a theater.  would be nice to see a little competition   next year when regal opens.  i don't give two shits about stadium seatin with recliners.  i would rather see going to the movie becoming more affordable and not have to get financing just to go the movies.

So let's do it then. There must be an old warehouse or something where we could open a penny theater. In Rochester there's a $2 movie theater that was ALWAYS packed. Plus, the rights to the movies are dirt cheap compared to new releases.

Why yes, I do know that Rochester is about 3 hours from Watertown.. I was simply pointing out that a similar theater does a lot of business there, and would probably do really well here, too.

i think he does know that.  i think he was implying that having one up here would do very well.  i always thought it would be great to see the stateway theater reopen and have movies for 2 bucks.  finally there would be something to do in this area that's affordable.  win win situation!

No.... Dude I have decieded if it comes out in that hole I will wait for the DVD.     I have not went to the mall since early spring.    I go to Lowville or the drive-ins.    I saw the writing on the wall this winter.    They doubled prices on everything and did less to collect it.    The seats were falling apart.   The screens were dirty and marked up.    Cleaning in general wasn't up to standards.    The people in some cases were not up to standards..... Most I noticed were trying.      So.... No I don't want to go back.    I think If I really have to see a new movie and it's not here...

I will go to another city....    You say Rochester is only 3.5 hours away?

I have not seen a movie at the mall since it opened. I go to the driveins and watch two movies for a lower price and food is better and cheaper. I can wait the month it takes to get in stores then i rent it for 1 in the red box

I will admit I do like going to the movies from time to time, but as for going back to the mall, I will not have any problem staying away and taking my money elsewhere.

I love to go to the movies.    But if they make it a sleeping room for lazy SOB's..... Well I'm not into it.
